I am a person.
Matt Glass was born in New Jersey. At the ripe old age of one, his parents randomly decided to move the family to Utah. In his early years, he grew up in a trailer park where he partook in all the latest games and activities such as “smashing old batteries with a hammer while avoiding the used needles on the sidewalk” and “touching the electric fence with various metal objects.”
Matt’s interest in filmmaking began as a youth when he’d borrow his aunt's camera and force his friends to act in his nonsensical movies. Matt studied art and photography, hoping that once he could master single-frame storytelling, he could move on to moving pictures. His cinematic, tableau photography has been featured in magazines such as American Photo and Popular Photography. He's had gallery shows all over the United States. He incorporated music into his photography by writing songs. He eventually received a Masters of Fine Arts degree in 2012 where he finally returned to filmmaking.
He has composed music for and co-directed several documentaries, including Fallujah: Art, Healing and PTSD and the television series Lost LA which won several Los Angeles Area Emmy Awards. In 2017, he 2nd-unit directed Karen Gillan’s BAFTA-nominated feature directorial debut, The Party’s Just Beginning, and he wrote, scored and co-directed the feature film Squirrel. In 2019 he DPed, produced and scored the film 12 Hour Shift which premiered at Tribeca Film Festival. That year, he also scored several short films for filmmakers like Karen Gillan, Rose McIver and Brea Grant. In 2022, He co-directed, scored and produced the feature film Ghosts of the Ozarks which stars Tim Blake Nelson, David Arquette and Angela Bettis.
